6 days in the Cook Islands

 

Day 1: Free Day

Kia Orana and welcome to Rarotonga! A free day for your first day is best to recoup for the next fun-filled days lined up for your family. Use this time to familiarise yourselves with your accommodation and the island. Or, stay in and get some much needed rest after your travels.

 

Day 2: Lagoon cruising in Rarotonga

Take it easy this morning before a world famous Muri Lagoon tour. Your family will be cruising the lagoon on a glass bottomed boat with a great deal of snorkelling amongst the tropical fish and coral. You will visit Motu Koromiri, a small island near the mainland, and enjoy a hearty island styled BBQ. Throughout the tour your guides will be engaging you with various stories of the Cook Islands, with typical island humour and entertainment.

Day 3: Tour the island

Today you will be taken on a round and through island tour of Rarotonga. Learn the highlights of the island including historical sights, great eateries, best beaches for swimming and snorkelling, learn about natural remedies made by traditional healers and meander past crops of fruit and vegetables.

Day 4: Experience Cook Islands culture

Experience the local culture through witnessing visionary dancing, relishing in traditional cuisines, embracing the stories told and swaying to the melodies of the Cook Islands. Audiences are encouraged to participate in some aspects of the cultural experience, so be prepared to join in.

Day 5: Ride inland

Grab onto your seats as you explore Rarotonga’s mountain side. Learn the history and origins of Rarotonga on this excursion, which is 70% off the main road, and visit the popular Papua waterfall. Your experienced guides will lead you on an exciting ride inland through dirt roads, mud and evergreens all around.

Day 6: Explore Rarotonga’s Lagoon

Choose from snorkelling, stand up paddle boarding or try out a sea scooter to further explore the turquoise lagoon. Either way, you’ll have the vast blue waters and tropical sea life at your leisure. Fun activities and storytelling are included to boost your explorations.
