FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Canada
06 October 2017

LOS ANGELES, CA – If you find yourself feeling down during the cold, gray Canadian winters, you’re not alone. Seasonal Affective Disorder – SAD, for short – has been scientifically proven to affect people here and elsewhere every year.

The good news is Cook Islands Tourism Corporation today launches special travel packages for Canadian travelers as part of its Escape Winter campaign, in keeping with the idea that the best way to cope with the winter blues is to avoid them.

By taking advantage of special Cook Islands offers, you could get on a plane and wake up in a paradise largely unknown to Canadians, a South Pacific nation of 15 islands where days are warm and people are too.

Nestled in the heart of Polynesia, the Cook Islands are the same distance south of the equator, as Hawaii is north, reached by nonstop air services from Los Angeles. The Cook Islands are often compared to Hawai’i 50 years ago – uncrowded, unspoiled, and off the beaten path. Canadians who visit each year are pleasantly surprised to find all the modern conveniences they’re used to, making this destination a unique blend of pristine and developed, where you can discover authentic traditional culture or order a latte at an upscale café.

Whether you’re the adventurous type or prefer to relax on vacation, the Cook Islands has something for you. You can float in a lagoon the founder of Lonely Planet called the most beautiful in the world, or watch the sky turn to a deep gold at sunset on a beach all to yourself. You can experience Polynesian dancing, some of the most enrapturing performance art in the world. You can dive deep into a South Pacific sea, take a guided tour, or indulge in a luxurious spa treatment.

Now through March of 2018, Canadians can book premium deals to the Cook Islands, such as a special five-night package departing either from Vancouver or Toronto. The Vancouver package (from $1,729 CA per person) includes a round-trip airfare, round-trip airport transfers, five nights’ accommodation, and a daily breakfast. The Toronto package (from $2,710 CA per person) includes a round-trip airfare, round-trip airport transfers, five nights’ accommodation, a daily breakfast, a boat cruise including lunch, a guided cross-island jungle trek, and access to snorkeling and kayaking equipment.

To learn more about these deals and more, please visit www.cookislands.travel/en-CA/escape-winter. If gray skies are affecting your mood, remember that a few clicks are all it takes to stave off the winter blues.

The Cook Islands can be reached by an easy overnight 10-hour non-stop flight on Air New Zealand from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) every Saturday night to Rarotonga’s (RAR) lagoon-side international airport.

The Cook Islands Tourism North America office is located at 5901 W. Century Blvd, Suite 1004, in Los Angeles, California, adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport.
