Many of us make New Year's resolutions that include travel, mindfulness, learning a new skill and leading a healthy lifestyle. We have a few ideas on how you can practice these while on holidays in the Cook Islands!

Resolution 1: Go somewhere new

Ring in the New Year with a new destination! If you've travelled to other islands in the South Pacific like Fiji but haven't experienced the Cook Islands, check out TravelZoo's list of 9 things you didn't know about our little paradise that sets us apart from the rest. Read the article here.

Ready to visit now?

With Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia and Jetstar there are heaps of options for flying to the Cook Islands - no matter what major city you fly from in Australia. Visit their respective websites for cheap flights to Rarotonga.

You can also book packages to the Cook Islands with airfares and accommodation via South Pacific holiday experts like Spacifica Travel. They offer a wide range of options from family holiday packages to couples retreats and everything in between.

Resolution 2: Mindfulness

With the peace and tranquillity of our little paradise, the Cook Islands stands out as the one of the best South Pacific destinations for escaping the busy city life and finding one’s self. Yoga classes are led by qualified teachers and are held in beautiful environments or regularly on a stand-up paddleboard. Learn more about yoga in the Cook Islands.

Resolution 3: Lead a healthy lifestyle

Here in the Cook Islands it's easy to make healthy choices while on holiday.

Our cafes and restaurants dotted around the island create delicious food with fresh ingredients. Explore our cafes and restaurants.

There are also several options for exercise, from gyms to water sports and hiking. If you are a bit of a gym junkie, visit our CrossFit which is known as the most isolated "box" in the world. Discover more about sports and fitness on the islands.

Resolution 4: Learn something new

The main island of Rarotonga may only be 32km around but we have so much to see and do for every type of visitor – that’s what makes us unique in the South Pacific!

From boat cruises, cycling tours, cultural shows, deep sea fishing, SCUBA diving, kite surfing, mountain hikes or buggies – we’ve got more activities than meets the eye. And having all of these on offer means you can learn something new or even put your current skills to the test.
