Top 25 things to do with kids in the Cook Islands
I quite often get asked what is there to do with kids in the Cook Islands - especially little ones? Well the answer is ALOT!
My kids have spent their entire life on the beautiful island of Rarotonga & I remind them quite often how lucky they are! Where kids can just be kids, just how childhood should be. Here are 25 things you can do with your kids in a little paradise.
Punanga Nui Markets
Every Saturday the market comes alive when all the Vendors come to town with a large range of local foods, arts, crafts, souvenirs! There is also a live Polynesian cultural performance on the stage 10.30am every Saturday! Kids can even get up on stage & have a photo with the Dance Troupe!
There is also a large playground surrounded by local food huts & coffee stalls perfect for the Mums & Dads!
Muri Lagoon
This beautiful lagoon is a perfect spot for families! One of the best beaches in Rarotonga! The lagoon here is quite shallow making it great for little ones, also a favourite for swimming & snorkelling! Explore the beautiful marine life, there is schools of tropical fish & mostly always a bright blue starfish hiding about! Take a Kayak or Paddle Board across to the beautiful Motu (Island) of Koromiri, my kids are literally entertained for hours over here on this Motu hunting for crabs, making Teepee’s out of palm tree fronds & climbing coconut trees! Be sure to pack some drinks & snacks as its easy for a few hours to pass while taking in this gorgeous lagoon.
Blackrock
This spectacular black volcanic rock is a popular spot amongst the locals for jumping into the rock pools below. On low tide it is fairly shallow & calm for kids to walk around or to climb the rocks above. A great spot to also watch the planes come in over that gorgeous aqua lagoon!
This site is a historic & culturally important land mark to the people here in Rarotonga. Check out the Sign when visiting to learn more about the history of this rock.
