Refreshed Arrival Card Calls On Visitors to ‘Love our Little Paradise’

Cook Islands Tourism Corporation (CIT) has launched a refreshed international arrival card, an initiative led by the Destination Development team in collaboration with Immigration, Customs, and Biosecurity agencies. This update aims to enhance the visitor experience and promote responsible tourism in the Cook Islands.

Newly installed Eco-Toilets in Mangaia

Cook Islands Tourism is pleased to announce the completion of the long-awaited eco-toilets installation on the island of Mangaia. Completed on July 5, 2024, the new eco-toilets, located at the picturesque Lake Tiriara and the serene Araoa Beach, are designed to minimise environmental impact while providing essential sanitation facilities. Utilising composting technology, these toilets reduce water usage and eliminate the need for chemical treatments.

Pacific Resort Rarotonga Joins World Oceans Day Clean-Up 2024

Pacific Resort Rarotonga proudly participated in the World Oceans Day clean-up 2024. As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, we immediately raised awareness among our staff and mobilized a dedicated team of 20-30 members for the event.

We organized our efforts into two groups. The first group focused on cleaning the shores of Muri Beach, starting from our resort property and working towards Titikaveka.

Aitutaki gets behind World Ocean Day

Inspiring Aitutaki’s children to protect the future of our precious ocean - School children in Aitutaki learned about the importance of loving "our little paradise" by becoming sacred guardians and sharing this same mana with our visitors. They explored how climate change threatens oceans and the environment, understanding how warm temperatures cause coral bleaching. Marine Resources engaged the children with underwater activities conducted by scientists who measured and counted different species of marine life relying on healthy oceans.

A Strategic Focus on Regenerative Tourism.

Te Kaveinga Manava Turoto o te Ipukarea is the new Cook Islands Tourism Development Strategy (CITDS). The CITDS will guide the operations of the destination development team within Cook Islands Tourism. The CITDS builds upon the work achieved in this space and will improve and strengthen areas previously underrepresented. It aligns with national, regional, and global sustainable development aspirations as outlined in the National Sustainable Development Agenda 2020+, Pacific 2030 Sustainable Tourism Policy Framework, and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Marae Moana: The Longest Mural in the South Pacific

At 560 meters long, the seawall mural will tell the story of the 15 Islands of the Cook Islands symbolized by paintings of island native endemic species and local motifs. The project is led by Marae Moana, the largest multi-use marine park in the world, spanning a total ocean area of nearly two million square kilometers.
