Rugby sevens has been a fixture on the Rarotonga calendar for more than three decades, and in 2026 the Cook Islands Rugby Union marks 37 years of the tournament.

Held over three days in early November, Raro Rugby Sevens draws teams from around the Pacific and further afield to compete across open men's, open women's and junior divisions. Around 30 teams across six divisions are expected. Expect fast, physical rugby, big crowds and the kind of atmosphere that has earned the tournament its nickname, "Sevens in Heaven."

Visitors are welcome to come and watch. November sits at the start of the warmer season in the Cook Islands, so the tournament pairs well with a few extra days on the island either side of the competition.
