Kia Orana, I am Maire, the third intern who will be contributing towards this blog to share with you all my experiences of working as a Destination Development intern for Cook Islands Tourism.

I was welcomed into the destination development team and the Cook Islands Tourism family in February. I can truly say that within the short period of time I have spent with Tourism I have met so many people and made many friends. The amount of things I have learnt so far during my internship is absolutely shocking, I have learnt about the benefits of social media in promoting a business or product, basics of InDesign and Photoshop, organizing events, community projects and so much more. There is a lesson learnt everyday within Cook Islands Tourism.

Within the destination development department we live and breathe our Kia Orana Values, everything we do revolves around our 3 core values Kia OranaMeitaki and Mana Tiaki. To help with delivering and promoting our Kia Orana Values we have our 2 famous and hilarious Kia Orana Ambassadors Aunty Nane and Aunty Lydia who act as the face of Cook Islands Tourism. I have been lucky enough to accompany these 2 lovely women on their Kia Orana Values presentations and it has proven to be a huge success since this project initially began. I can honestly say you can always count on these two ladies to make you laugh and to save you from starvation.

Ka kite for now, be sure to visit our Intern blog next week
