"...from the meetings held to date, it is clear that the Cook Islands awareness has grown amongst the travel trade now it’s time to activate a direct-to-consumer awareness campaign if we are to build on business from this market during the low and shoulder season"

As the name suggests Meet The Pacific (MTP) is a 2-week traveling roadshow of Pacific island nations represented by National Tourism Offices (NTOs), individual hoteliers, and tourism product operators and representatives meeting with travel trade partners. The event, organized by Turama Pacific and Rosie's Holidays of Fiji, has been running for 9 years. The roadshow this year began in France, continued through Spain, is currently in the United Kingdom, and will conclude in Italy.

Attending MTP 2024 are Noeline Mateariki, Cook Islands Tourism Director of Sales & Marketing, Nick Henry, General Managing of Tamanu Beach Resort Aitutaki, and Stephen Doherty, Sales & Marketing Manager, Island Hopper Vacations. This is the first time Tourism has been back to MTP since the pandemic and it is fantastic to have a member of the tourism industry Tamanu Beach Resort attend not just as a hotelier but also as a representative of Aitutaki, a popular destination for this market, says Noeline Mateariki.

Comprising approximately 5% of total visitors in 2023, the European market holds significance for the Cook Islands for its spending habits and tendency to travel during the islands' low and shoulder season.

Noeline notes that from the meetings held to date, it is clear that the Cook Islands awareness has grown amongst the travel trade now it’s time to activate a direct-to-consumer awareness campaign if we are to build on business from this market during the low and shoulder season.

Other islands represented at MTP2024 include Fiji, Tahiti, Samoa, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, and New Caledonia.
