Cook Islands Tourism Announces Tourism Woman of the Month
Cook Islands Tourism is delighted to announce that Constance Maeva Halligan, affectionately known as Connie, has accepted her nomination for the prestigious September 2024 Tourism Woman of the Month award.
With a rich and dedicated career spanning over two decades, Connie has been an integral part of the Cook Islands tourism industry. Her journey began with Air New Zealand, where she served for 24 years, starting at a time when the airline operated just four flights per week to Rarotonga. As the company expanded its operations, Connie and her team navigated the increasing demands and challenges that came with the growing flight schedule. Despite the rigorous workload, Connie's commitment to ensuring smooth operations and exceptional passenger care never wavered.
“Air New Zealand was more than just a job; it was a second family,” Connie shared. “We had our mentors like the late Ina Maui, Akaiti Puna, and Agnes Armstrong who kept us focused and on track. The support and camaraderie within our team were unmatched, and those years remain some of the most memorable in my career.”
"Being involved in the tourism industry is incredibly rewarding, but it requires dedication, energy, and a willingness to go the extra mile," Connie said. "The gratitude and appreciation from visitors make it all worthwhile."
Today, Connie continues her involvement in tourism by managing rental properties as holiday homes. Her hands-on approach and willingness to assist, even at the last minute, ensure that visitors to the Cook Islands experience the best possible service.
Connie’s commitment to the tourism industry reflects the spirit of those who laid the groundwork before her. "Tourism in the Cook Islands is a tribute to those who prepared the way before us. Their vision and hard work have created the industry we have today, and it’s an honor to continue their legacy."
In celebration of this significant milestone, Connie warmly invites all her family and friends to join her for a special evening on the 26th of September from 6:00 PM at the Islander Hotel. It promises to be a night filled with laughter, memories, and appreciation for the journey that has brought her to this point.
Cook Islands Tourism congratulates Connie on her well-deserved nomination and extends heartfelt thanks for her continued contributions to the industry.
