Exciting developments on the horizon for Atiu Tourism
Atiu is stirring with fresh potential as new tourism products and business developments take shape on the island. Cook Islands Tourism’s Industry Development Manager, Tina Kae, and Digital Marketing Coordinator, Gina Weis, recently traveled to Atiu to review an exciting new tourism experience set to launch soon. Their visit also provided an opportunity to assess the island’s current offerings and explore emerging opportunities.
While Atiu remains less developed than Rarotonga and Atiutaki, the visit reaffirmed that there is enormous potential for growth in a way that aligns with the island’s unique character. Tina and Gina experienced firsthand the rich cultural and natural attractions that make Atiu special and also met with local business operators who are investing in new ideas and expanding existing ventures.
There is a clear sense of momentum building. With the right support, Atiu has the opportunity to further carve out its niche as a destination for eco-conscious travelers seeking unspoiled beauty and authentic experiences. Cook Islands Tourism is committed to strengthening its engagement with those driving new initiatives, ensuring that tourism development happens sustainably and responsibly.
As a result of this trip, Cook Islands Tourism has also captured new digital assets to add to its image gallery, helping to showcase Atiu’s unique offerings to a wider audience. Additionally, insights from this visit will contribute to developing a stronger framework for sustainable Pa Enua tourism, ensuring that growth benefits both the environment and the local communities.
Exciting times lie ahead for Atiu, and we look forward to seeing how these developments unfold. Stay tuned for more updates!
