Pacific Islands Institute, a Hawaii-based tour operator, has specialized in escorted, all-inclusive group tours throughout the Pacific for primarily non-profit educational organizations for over 35 years.

Between 1992 and 2007, Pacific Islands Institute operated numerous programs (4-12 groups annually) to the Cook Islands and French Polynesia for Road Scholar, a non-profit educational travel provider. Road Scholar has recently expressed interest in reviving this program for 2026.

To facilitate this, Pacific Islands Institute CEO Andrew Lockwood, accompanied by his wife and CFO, Karen Lockwood, and their daughters, visited the Cook Islands and Tahiti to reconnect with suppliers and lay the groundwork for the program's relaunch.
