Cook Islands Tourism has proudly joined forces with Te Ara o te Akau (TAOTA) at the vibrant Punanga Nui Market to highlight the crucial work being done to protect and nurture our precious marine environment through their coral restoration right here in Rarotonga. This partnership is more than just a display; it’s a celebration of TAOTA’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty that makes our islands in the Cook Islands so special.

Thanks to the support of the Vaka Pride Programme, Te Ara o te Akau was granted the exciting opportunity to set up a stall with Cook Islands Tourism, creating a dynamic space where visitors and locals alike could engage with the passionate efforts of TAOTA. The busy Saturday morning market buzzed with curiosity and enthusiasm as attendees learned about the transformative impact of their coral restoration efforts and how it plays a vital role in sustaining the marine ecosystems that surround our island paradise and protect the health of our marine species.

This collaboration served as a perfect platform to spread awareness and inspire action, as TAOTA shared their vision for a sustainable future with the community. The initiative not only showcased the remarkable work being done but also encouraged visitors to become stewards of the environment, deepening their connection as mana tiaki (sacred guardians) of the Cook Islands.
