Mr Paul Ash from Castaway Resort went home with an Air New Zealand travel voucher on Tuesday the 25th of July at the quarterly Global Breakfast update from Cook Islands Tourism.

Mr Ash went into the draw to win the $800 travel voucher, alongside nearly 100 other local businesses who also completed the survey questions.   Past winners of the lucky draw have included Papatua Papatua from Are Toa Taniera, and Erin Tierney from Sails Restaurant and Bar.

Presented by Professor Simon Milne from the Auckland University of Technology and the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute, the travel voucher is a reward to business owners and managers for sharing their business information, and unique perspectives on the tourism industry and the economic climate as a whole.

Findings from this round of the Business Confidence Index and Survey carried out from February to April 2017,  as well as the latest International Visitor Survey report (April to June 2017) were presented by Professor Milne at the Global Breakfast update organized for the Tourism industry last week.

This is the third round of survey results from the Business Confidence Index which has been run since 2016, and is scheduled to run again at the end of August this year.  The survey results over these time periods means a solid platform of data has been built to identify trends and common themes.

The survey is conducted by the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute on behalf of Cook Islands Tourism.  Approximately 100 businesses responded to the survey – a mixture of both tourism related and non-tourism related organisations.  Cook Islands Tourism encourages all businesses, big and small, tourism related or not to complete the survey and contribute to the research and analysis of our biggest economic sector – Tourism.

Meitaki ma’ata to all those businesses who contributed to the Business Confidence survey. Your valuable contributions assist with the development of strategies and policies to help guide the overall work of the Tourism Corporation.
