"Come to play, stay to learn" was the overarching theme for the Cook Islands Teacher Summit. Cook Islands Tourism (CIT) supported the Summit that was organised for teachers in New Zealand and the Cook Islands. The summit was held over two days earlier in the week at Te Uki Ou school. Over 40 New Zealand participants with their families came to Rarotonga for the summit and over 50 local teachers were involved in the dynamic two day event.

The focal areas of the Summit was centered around three key themes that included innovation and technology, effective teaching practice and cultural capability. CEO for Cook Islands Tourism, Karla Eggelton opened the event with a welcoming address sharing the synergies between Tourism, technology & innovation including the importance of quality teaching for the development of our human resources. The support from CIT was provided on the basis of two areas, incremental visitors and education, with education playing an important role within Tourism's wider strategy.
