Te Vaka O Ru adopting community approach

CIT's Regenerative Tourism team recently provided assistance to the Aitutaki office to refresh the Te Vaka o Ru Te Vaka o Ru programme. In a meeting held last week, RT Manager Jeremy Goodwin highlighted the success of Vaka Pride in Rarotonga that has taken an inclusive community approach and recommended that Aitutaki's committee follow suit.

Increasing public involvement will help showcase to the committee more initiatives who could benefit from the funding programme in the future. Furthermore, it was suggested to involve more community stakeholders on the committee, with recent participants including NGOs such as Aitutaki's Disability Centre, Aitutaki Red Cross, and Aitutaki Sports Association. We look forward to more community initiatives being recognised for their good work in Aitutaki.
