Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti have jointly announced an agreement to increase flights between Tahiti and Rarotonga to three per week with the Tahitian carrier adding flights on Saturdays and Sundays using ATR aircraft from June 24th, 2023.

The two Airlines will codeshare on services to optimise travel flexibility for local residents as well as provide multiple connections beyond Tahiti to the USA and Europe.

Since August 2022, Air Rarotonga has operated a single flight each week on Saturday afternoons returning Sunday mornings and this service will move to Tuesdays and Wednesdays commencing June 27th. All present bookings for Saturdays and Sundays will be re-accommodated on the codeshared flights and fares for the new mid-week Air Rarotonga service will be on sale from April 7th.

“Since our flights began last year we have achieved very high load factors,” said Air Rarotonga Managing Director, Ewan Smith. “This increase in capacity will boost visitor numbers and we are delighted to resume our commercial relationship with Air Tahiti after the two-year interruption caused by Covid.

This collaboration will ensure the ongoing success of this route providing benefits to the Cook Islands tourism industry and added convenience for our local residents and families who enjoy visiting friends and relatives in French Polynesia."

The additional flights will increase weekly capacity to and from Tahiti to 125 seats each way. Bookings can be made online or by visiting the Air Rarotonga Travel Centre at Rarotonga Airport.
