Etu Moana, who are devoted to sustainable solutions, is one of a handful of properties in Aitutaki that utilises natural kikau (coconut fronds) on their property. As a traditional roofing technique, the practice can be more labour intensive and expensive than modern roofing, but Etu Moana owners Tiffany and Jeff are adamant that the long-term benefits outweigh the costs. The positives being not only is it more eco-friendly and sustainable to source local materials but the contribution they are making to support the local community is another driving factor. Partnering with local suppliers and groups to source and produce the thatching for their roof's, Etu Moana proves you can walk the walk when you walk together.
