RAROTONGA, COOK ISLANDS - Cook Islands Tourism is excited at the resumption of Air Tahiti's non-stop flight between Papeete, Tahiti, and Rarotonga, Cook Islands. Starting from Saturday 24 June, Air Tahiti will operate two flights a week, Saturday with their ATR72-600 aircraft, and then Sunday with their ATR42-600 aircraft; both flights are codeshare with local airline Air Rarotonga. Air Tahiti previously operated non-stop flights between Papeete and Rarotonga from 2007 to 2020.

"We are delighted to welcome the recommencement of Air Tahiti flights between Papeete and Rarotonga," says Karla Eggelton, CEO of Cook Islands Tourism. "This airlink not only provides additional access to the Cook Islands but signifies another important step towards the recovery of our tourism industry”. We will now have three flights a week from Papeete, Tahiti, which is an added capacity of 125 passenger seats. This provides more connectivity options for all visitors with special focus on the Northern hemisphere, which is an important source market for the Cook Islands during the low season travel periods.

The flights offered by Air Tahiti complement the existing airlink options provided by Air Rarotonga, which started operating direct flights between Rarotonga and Papeete in August 2022. This enhanced connectivity also enables travelers to conveniently explore a dual island holiday between Tahiti and the Cook Islands.

In addition to Air Tahiti and Air Rarotonga, there are other airlines that service the Cook Islands, expanding the connectivity to a little paradise. Air New Zealand offers daily flights via Auckland, Jetstar operates three flights a week from Auckland, and Hawaiian Airlines provides a once-a-week connection via Hawaii from its 15 US gateways. Furthermore, starting from June 29, Jetstar will fly direct from Sydney three times a week, further increasing travel options for visitors who want to experience the warm hospitality of the Cook Islands.
