Te Mire Ura - Dancer of the Year
This year's Te Mire Ura competition has been split across 3 months to allow dancers time to prepare themselves for the upcoming shows. Here are the dates for this year's Dancer of the year: (Please note that the Ministry of Cultural Development regrets to advise the public that the Juniors & Intermediate sections of the 2022 National Dancer of the year scheduled for Thursday 28th April has now been cancelled)
March 17th: Senior section
April 28th: Juniors & Intermediates section - Cancelled
May 27th: Senior Open & Masters, Experts, Expats
All four shows will be staged at the National Auditorium in Rarotonga. Each category will bring different levels of skill and technique as they vie for the title of best dancer for their age group. Amongst the age group categories are the fun sections that consist of the Golden Oldies, Expats & Visitors category that gives our elders and visiting tourists a chance to show-off their talents.
This is probably one of the best way's for visitors to experience an entertaining evening of high level Cook Islands dancing. Winners are chosen on criteria such as costume, choreography and degree-of-difficulty.
This is a fun event that is always competitive and always an entertaining and enlightening spectacle for visitors.

All ticket's to this event can only be purchased on island at the National Library located directly in front of the National Auditorium.
