Cook Islands Shines at First Ever Oceania Roadshow in Germany

The first-ever South Pacific Roadshow organised by PATA Germany wrapped up in March, visiting four German cities: Munich, Freiburg, Mannheim, and Cologne. Alongside the Cook Islands, participating destination partners included Tourism Australia, Tourism New Zealand, Tourism Fiji, and Tahiti Tourisme. The roadshow was supported by airline partners Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, Air Tahiti Nui (in Munich and Cologne), and Fiji Airways.

This inaugural event featured evening training sessions for wholesale and retail travel agents, with each stop hosting approximately 50 agents—exceeding expectations and demonstrating strong interest in the South Pacific. The format combined podium presentations with a marketplace session, giving agents the opportunity to connect directly with tourism boards and airline partners for more in-depth discussions.

Cook Islands Tourism took a fresh approach by “Going Live” with a custom-produced video in place of a traditional presentation. Created by Head Office Digital Marketing Coordinators Gina Weiss (a native German) and Esther Tetava, the video delivered an immersive, German-language journey through Rarotonga, Aitutaki, and Atiu, framed by an introduction on flight connections and ending with key reasons to visit.

The result was both informative and inspiring, earning positive feedback from agents who called it one of the more memorable presentations of the roadshow. It has already prompted follow-up enquiries to our Northern European representative, Lars Schubert.

Dates for next year’s South Pacific Roadshow are already being discussed, with the roadshow tentatively scheduled for April 2026.
