The Cook Islands & Tahiti: A Perfect Polynesian Pairing for French Travellers
The Cook Islands are enhancing their presence in the French market, offering travellers a seamless extension from Tahiti through strategic partnerships with Air Tahiti Nui, Air Rarotonga, and Air Tahiti.
During a breakfast training session in Paris, held in collaboration with Air Tahiti Nui, travel agents and tour operators gained insights into why the Cook Islands is a perfect complement to a French Polynesian getaway. The event was led by Nicholas Costantini, Southern Europe Representative for Cook Islands Tourism, and Ludivine Bouyer, Trade Representative, with support from Roberta Bertazza, Southern Europe Representative for Turama Pacific. They engaged with over a dozen tour operators and product managers from leading agencies such as Nautil, Les Maisons du Voyage, Marco Vasco, and Ultramarina, highlighting the destination’s unique appeal.
A Polynesian Paradise Beyond Tahiti
The Cook Islands team showcased key unique selling points (USPs) that position the destination as an authentic and unforgettable extension to a French Polynesian itinerary:
- Aitutaki’s breathtaking lagoon, often compared to Bora Bora’s.
- Rarotonga’s pristine beaches, where travelers can unwind just 20 minutes after landing.
- Boutique-style tourism, free from mass tourism, large hotel chains, and international fast-food outlets—offering an intimate and relaxed luxury experience.
- A shared Polynesian heritage, stunning natural beauty, and warm hospitality, ensuring a truly authentic experience.
Seamless Travel from Tahiti to the Cook Islands
Tour operators were also updated on the enhanced travel connectivity between Tahiti and the Cook Islands. With an interline agreement between Air Tahiti Nui and Air Rarotonga, and a codeshare partnership with Air Tahiti, French travellers can now easily extend their stay and explore the Cook Islands. With four weekly flights between Tahiti and Rarotonga, this effortless connection allows visitors to experience another side of Polynesian paradise.
A Strategic Partnership for Market Growth
Nick Costantini, Southern Europe Representative Cook Islands Tourism, emphasised the significance of this collaboration “We are delighted to partner with Air Tahiti Nui, Air Rarotonga, and Air Tahiti to promote what we believe is an exceptional Polynesian experience for French travellers. This improved connectivity, combined with simplified ticketing and pricing, makes the Cook Islands a natural extension to Tahiti.” He continued: “We believe in the incredible potential of our 15 pristine islands and their deep connection with French Polynesia, sharing the same essence of Mana. We invite all lagoon lovers, especially those captivated by Bora Bora, to discover Aitutaki, often regarded as one of the most stunning lagoons in the world. But don’t take our word for it, come see it for yourself!”
With its unspoiled beauty, unique cultural heritage, and seamless accessibility, the Cook Islands are positioning themselves as an unmissable addition to the French Polynesian experience.
