The Board of the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation has announced the appointment of Ms Karla Eggelton as the Corporation's new CEO.

Ms Eggelton has acted in the capacity over the past three months following the departure of Halatoa Fua who left to take up a new role as Director of the National Environment Service.

"Karla's capabilities and wide experience are well known to the local industry and our international partners" said Board Chairman Ewan Smith. "We are delighted that she has agreed to take on the role, especially at such a challenging time where our industry must rebuild from the devastating impact of the COVID pandemic."

The Corporation has developed a robust management structure over the years and Karla's appointment reflects its commitment to building capacity and a logical executive succession plan. This year marks the beginning of the comeback trail for Cook Islands tourism and the Corporation will play a vital part in assisting our largest earner to regain its place as the cornerstone of the economy.

Eggelton will formally take the helm Monday 02 May.  “I look forward to the challenge ahead, working with all stakeholders and partners as we navigate our next steps of this uncharted Cook Islands tourism journey”.
