Add the Aitutaki Day Tour to your Cook Islands Holiday

After Rarotonga, Aitutaki is the second most visited island in the Cook Islands. Said to have the most beautiful lagoon in the world, visitors can explore this stunning spot by taking a day tour with Air Rarotonga or staying overnight in one of the numerous accommodation options available.

The Aitutaki Day Tour operates Monday to Saturday from Rarotonga, departing at 8 am and returning by 5.30 pm. Return flights and return coach transfers from guests’ accommodation to and from Rarotonga International Airport are included in the price of this tour.

On arrival in Aitutaki, visitors explore the island on a one hour guided (and very entertaining) driving tour before meeting up with The Vaka Cruise. The Vaka is a 21 metre catamaran, complete with covered seating as well as deck sun loungers for those looking to soak up some rays. The Vaka is easily accessible for people with physical challenges including those in wheelchairs.

On the tour, guests have plenty of time for snorkelling and swimming amongst giant clams, trevally and other tropical fish. Snorkelling gear and towels are provided on the lagoon cruise. The cruise also stops at several motu (small islets) including the famous One Foot Island where visitors can have their passport stamped in one of the worlds smallest post offices.

Whilst on board, everyone will also enjoy a tasty fresh fish barbecue lunch with island sides, cooked right on deck. Water, coffee and tea are included in this cruise but there is also a cash bar available. The crew also keeps everyone entertained with live music and cultural demonstrations.

This memorable cruise experience lasts approximately six hours before heading back to Aitutaki Airport to board the flight back to Rarotonga.
