New single and music video honour the nation’s history with rare archival footage from the 1960s.

To mark the 60th anniversary of self-governance in the Cook Islands, local DJ collective Coco House Bros have released their latest track, “Our Paradise”, along with a powerful new music video created entirely from original archival footage from the 1960s.

The song delivers a smooth, reflective deep house sound — designed not for the club, but for sunset moments and island reflection. It pays homage to the strength and spirit of the Cook Islands and its people, 60 years on from the beginning of its journey of independence.

“This isn’t a party track,” said the group. “It’s a piece that’s meant to be felt — a celebration of who we are, where we’ve come from, and what we stand for.”

The music video features historical footage provided courtesy of Archives New Zealand, used under the Creative Commons Attribution license. These rare visuals capture the life and spirit of the 1960s Cook Islands, offering an authentic glimpse into the past that complements the track’s emotional depth.
