For the 9th consecutive year, the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation have signed on to support the Motu2Motu Oe Vaka event. The event is a staple on the Cook Islands' sporting event calendar taking place in Aitutaki from the 2nd – 6th December; 36kms, 7 legs, 6 changeovers, mixed crews, and 1 awesome week.

Motu2Motu Aitutaki is now a multi award winning event having picked up two awards, Winners of the Festivals and Events Award and Outer Island Award for 2015/2016 at the Air New Zealand Cook Island National Tourism Awards.

2017 and 2018 saw all 10 outriggers in the water, a lot of returning paddlers from around the globe. This year the event has reached full capacity filling 12 canoes. 12 teams of 12 paddlers will compete in the 36km changeover race on Aitutaki’s beautiful lagoon. Participants will be staying on the island from 3 days, to up-to 3 weeks, adding a significant boost to the local economy.

Next year will mark the 10th year anniversary and it promises to once again be a sell-out, so get in early to avoid disappointment. The 10th Anniversary event is scheduled to take place from 30th November – 4th December 2020. To register your interest email Poppy [email protected].

Cook Islands Tourism would like to wish Stephen, Poppy and the rest of the Motu2Motu team all the best for what is already gearing up to be another successful event.
